"Walk on the Wild Side."

These tours offer something special for those with an extra taste for adventure. If you ask virtually any of our tour leaders and most of our passengers, to name their favourite activity on tour, the walks and hikes in the National Parks, Indian lands, and wilderness areas invariably rank first. There is truly no more inspiring, exhilarating and rewarding way to experience some of the most captivating and wondrous areas of this continent. So why not design complete walking tours around them? We did - so come take a walk with us!

Further information and links to our Walking Tours can be found below.

Tour Style: Walking & Hiking

Hikes for all abilities... Our walking tours are designed for the walking capability of the average passenger on our regular tours, with a well-paced mix of great walks for all levels of fitness. Most walks are easy to slightly moderate and are up to four hours in length. For the more adventurous, there are a variety of optional, longer, moderate and strenuous hikes that are up to eight hours in length; these are offered at most destinations. We also go the extra mile to increase the level of flexibility. We have added a second tour leader for these trips so that there are at least two trail route options on most days. This also means that the maximum group size is twelve.

Accommodation: Camping
Never camped before...? Fear not.. Footloose has made it easy! We supply everything needed to make camping holidays simple and comfortable. Footloose provides all necessary camping equipment including tents, cold food storage containers, camp lights, stoves and other camp accessories. Our tents are very easy to set up and take down. They are virtually weather-proof to keep you comfortable. We camp two in each four person tent, which leaves more than enough room for your luggage. Home sweet home!

Campgrounds situated in stunning natural settings give Footloose groups opportunities not found by conventional tourists. When we camp near major city destinations, nearly all the campgrounds have full facilities such as showers, pools, shops, and laundromats. Virtually all National Park campgrounds have pay showers, flush toilets and basic facilities. Occasionally, our groups may stay in more isolated areas where the surroundings will quickly make you forget any lack of facilities. All campsite fees are included in the cost of the tour.

Bring your own sleeping bag - we recommend a 'three season' bag as nights can be cool early and late season, especially in the mountains. We supply a "thermarest" pad to sleep on for added comfort.

Please note: Due to colder temperatures the winter departures of the "National Parks Walk" are fully accommodated in hotels/lodges included in the tour cost.

Passenger participation
An essential part of a Footloose camping holiday is helping with the day to day campground chores. With guidance from your tour leader and our full range of camping equipment, the team spirit makes the chores easy and enjoyable. From setting up in the evening, to breaking camp in the morning, from unloading the roofrack, to shopping for food and preparing group meals, you'll be part of the team with Footloose.

Food Kitty

Our groups share in the preparation and cooking of the food. Supplies, excluding soft drinks and alcohol, are purchased from the food kitty, and each member of the group pays $9 per day en route. This covers three meals on most days while we are camping; eating fresh foods that we purchase as we travel to satisfy the international flavour of the group. A healthy way to travel at an unbeatable price. Naturally this does not cover hotel stops or when our groups sometimes sample regional cuisine at local restaurants.

On the winter lodging departures of the "National Parks Walk" there is no food kitty, as meals are taken in local restaurants where passengers pay individually for all meals en-route.
