Footloose tours are designed
for passengers of all ages. While most passengers
on our standard tours are 25-55, every year we get
many people above and below this age range who prefer
to travel in a small group unrestricted by age.The
minimum age on our tours is 16 , and anyone under
18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult.
Our Family Adventures programme
is the exception - the minimum age for children, accompanying
their parents is 8 years old (6 & 7 year olds
considered upon request).
NB: Travellers over 55 will be requested
to complete a self-declaration of fitness.
Since Winter 2007, Footloose has began investing
in a new fleet of customised vehicles in North America.
All of our pricate vehicles are designed to ensure
your comfort and enjoyment on tour.
The raised ceiling provides more headroom and the
individual captain seats offer exceptional comfort
and space. The larger customized windows provide great
views of the countryside and the open centre aisle
floor plan makes it easier to move around, especially
when we stop for a picnic stop or at a scenic outlook
en-route.
Our vehicles have air-conditioning, heating and tinted
windows to make travelling a pleasure. All luggage,
camping equipment and other necessities are stored
in a specially designed trailer, and the vehicles
are equipped with stereo systems so you'll be cruisin'
down the road in style. Every group is virtually self-sufficient
and able to explore "where the crowds can't go".
An essential part of a Footloose
camping holiday is helping with the day to day campground
chores. With guidance from your tour leader and our
full range of camping equipment, the team spirit makes
the chores easy and enjoyable. From setting up in
the evening, to breaking camp in the morning, from
unloading the roofrack, to shopping for food and preparing
group meals, you'll be part of the team with Footloose.
Lodging tours require less effort,
but as groups are small, still engender a friendly
sense of togetherness.
Fear not.. Footloose has made it easy! We supply everything
needed to make our camping holidays simple and comfortable.
Footloose provides all necessary
camping equipment including tents, cold food storage
containers, camp lights, stoves and other camp accessories.
Our tents are very easy to set up and take down. They
are virtually weather-proof to keep you comfortable.
We camp two in each four person tent, which leaves
more than enough room for your luggage. Home sweet
home!
Bring your own sleeping bag - we
recommend a 'three season' bag as nights can be cool
early and late season, especially in the mountains.
We supply a "thermarest" pad to sleep on
for added comfort.
On our lodging tours all accommodation
and bedding is provided in tourist class hotels, motels
and lodges so you do not require a sleeping bag.

Campgrounds situated in stunning
natural settings give Footloose groups opportunities
not found by conventional tourists. When we camp near
major city destinations, nearly all the campgrounds
have full facilities such as showers, pools, shops,
and laundromats. Virtually all National Park campgrounds
have pay showers, flush toilets and basic facilities.
Occasionally, our groups will may to stay in more
isolated areas where the surroundings will quickly
make you forget any lack of facilities. All
campsite fees are included in the cost of the tour.

On some tours we will stay in en-route hotels where
camping facilties are not available or not to an accepatable
standard (shown as HP on the tour itinerary). These
nights are always included in the tourcost on Footloose
tours. We stay in comfortable tourist class hotels
and lodges on a twin share basis, with the exception
of our Alaskan Adventure where the first two (HP)
nights are at a luxury wilderness camp.

On all camping based tours, the
nightstops designated (HP) on the itinerary are included
in the price of the tour. We stay in comfortable tourist
class hotels and lodges on a twin share basis, with
the exception of our Alaskan Adventure where the first
two (HP) nights are at a luxury wilderness tented
camp.
On our lodging tours all accommodation
is included and based on twinshare (two passenger
per room containing two beds). The type of accommodation
for these tours is as different as the unique lands
they explore.
For tours in the USA and Canada,
a combination of tourist class lodges, cabins, hotels
and motels suited to the individual areas is used.
Forour Yucatan Highlights tour
in Mexico, we stay at budget or tourist class
hotels and cabins that are clean and comfortable,
thought not always with the same level of amenities
as similar types of accommodation north of the border.
However they are sure to make you feel at home in
the heart of the Yucatan.
For tours in South America, the
accommodation varies with each region we visit. Lodging
tours are fully accommodated on a twin share basis,
and may range from a comfortable 3 star beachfront
hotel to a rustic mountain lodge. On occassion, there
may be a multi-share room, but the local surroundings
will certainly compensate.
Travellers on their own will be
roomed with a fellow passenger. In the event that
you cannot be matched with another passenger, there
is never a single supplement charge with Footloose.
Our camping groups share in
the preparation and cooking of the food. Supplies,
excluding soft drinks and alcohol, are purchased from
the food kitty, and each member of the group pays
$9 per day en route. This covers three meals on most
days while we are camping; eating fresh foods that
we purchase as we travel to satisfy the international
flavour of the group. A healthy way to travel at an
unbeatable price. Naturally this does not cover hotel
stops or when our groups sometimes sample regional
cuisine at local restaurants.
On lodging tours, there is
no food kitty, as meals are taken in local restaurants
where passengers pay individually for all meals en
route.
On
each tour there are numerous activities and attractions
from which to choose. Mountain biking, watersports,
scenic flights, white water rafting, rodeos, nightlife,
and museums are just a few examples. Some of the more
prominent ones for every trip are listed under the "Optional
Activities" section on each trip's page. These
options are not usually included in the holiday price
because not every passenger wants to participate in
each. Our leaders know where to get the best group rates
available for various attractions and activities. This
way each member of the group can choose according to
their own taste and budget.
While many clients must travel
at a certain time of the year, those that have a choice
often ask us "When is the best time to travel?".
As any experienced traveller (and that especially
goes for our tour leaders) will tell you, they prefer
the "off season" when many of the tourists
have gone home and the National Parks, beaches, attractions
(a few are seasonal and may be closed), hiking trails,
lakes etc. are virtually empty. This holds especially
true for an experience like a Footloose tour. We encourage
our more flexible passengers to take advantage of
this by offering lower prices for our tours in the
"off season".
Passengers travelling in "low
season" (reflected by the lowest price for each
tour) should keep in mind that part of the adventure
is that the weather is very changeable and sometimes
inclement. While it depends on the particular tour,
we recommend a good three season sleeping bag, warm
clothes (lots of wool) and rain gear (Northwest and
Canada).
